On September 10, 2017 fashion lovers from LA to NY gathered at Punto Space located in midtown Manhattan to view The Adonis King Spr/Summer “Kingdom” Collection. With the theme God vs. Goddesses, the colors pink, black, and white filled the runway detailing lots of black sheer, long crepe satin and lace gowns.
“The pink represents love and lust like Aphrodite, the black represents the gothic of the gods like Hades, and the white represents the angel-like presence of Zeus,” Adonis King said. King successfully embodied the elements of the Greek gods by extracting characteristics from myths and legends and injecting them into his designs. The makeup was deep and heavy including the warm, dark plum matte lipstick from Basketball Wives LA Brandi Maxiell’s cosmetic line mixed with intense strokes of bronzer and powder however, the gold highlight on the cheeks was a great neutralizer and made everything pop.
Gold jewelry was paired with black clothing to convey the Greek god’s edgy side. Representing the elegance of the goddesses, pink cocktail dresses were combined with slicked-back hairstyles and matched with nude heels while the love and lust of Aphrodite were brought to life with marble patterned mermaid gowns and low-cut cocktail dresses.
Not only could you notice celebrities in the audience like creative director & celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch and Bianca Bonnie formerly known as rapper Young B. from the hit reality show Love and Hip Hop New York, Nia Sioux from Lifetime’s Dance Moms and Big Brother UK star Georgina Leigh Cantwell graced the catwalk. As an added flavor, Vinci Smart all-in-one, on-the-go headphones were paired with several of the models.
